The Chandrabhaga beach is situated 3 km east of The Konark Sun Temple , in the Puri district of the state Odisha , INDIA .The distance of the Beach from Puri is about 30 km . Chandrabhaga is the only one beach in INDIA that got the BlueFlag Certification on World Environment Day. The beach line of Chandrabhaga Beach running parallel to the coastal forest is one of the best attraction towards peoples eyes .
Chandrabhaga Beach History
According to the mythological reference Shamba the son of god Krishna worshipped the Sun God for cure from Leper on the mouth of the river Chandrabhaga . The river dried up , You can not see the river now its completely dried .
From Another mythological reference Chandrabhaga the daughter of a sage . The sun God attracted towards Chandrabhaga by her magical charm . The God came down to seek her hand in love , But Chandrabhaga did nor offer herself to the God . Chandrabhaga frightened due to madness of God towards love for her, that’s why she jumped into the river and killed her self , thus succeeding in protecting her chastity . To tribute her sacrifice , every year on the 7th day of fool moon fortnight of Magha ( Odia month) month ,people from all over the state and outside gather to take a holy dip in the river .
There is an another history about Chandrabhaga , Dharmapada (son of a famous architect Bishumaharana) helped the 1200 craftsmen by built the final part of the Konark Sun Temple and sacrificed his life by jumped into the Chandrabhaga river and rescued the life of 1200 craftsmen from the King .

The International Sand Art Festival was started in 2015 . It is a part of the Konark Dance Festival .This festival at this beach has an another level of attraction towards peoples eyes . Sand Art Festival is a unique and one of the International festival in Odisha . Artist from different countries like USA , GERMANY , ENGLAND …. has been taking part in this festival since last 5 years .
