Best Places to visit in Kendujhar , Odisha 

Keonjhar is known as the waterfall district of the state  Odisha  . There are more than 10 waterfalls are originated in the district  . Kendujhar Town is located at a distance of 220 kilometers from the state Capital ,   Bhubaneswar  . 

Maa Tarini Temple ,  Ghatagaon

Located at a distance of 50 km from Kendujhar  , Maa Tarini Temple is one of the major tourist destination in Odisha . The temple is dedicated to Hindu goddess Maa Tarini . On Tuesday devotees from different corner of the state come here to worship and take blessings of Maa Tarini . Every day thousands of devotees come here to take blessings of Maa Tarini . Maa Tarini is also well known as Coconut Queen  . You can get Khasa Lodu , Nadia kora and some other items made by coconut  . The most interesting thing is that , if you want to send a coconut to Maa Tarini then you can send from any place of the state through regular running buses it will be reach at the temple  .

History of the Maa Tarini temple 

It is believed that Maa Tarini was brought from Puri after the Kanchi war . Kanchi war was fought between king Purusottam Dev and the king of Kanchi . On the first war king Purusottam Dev defeated by the king of Kanchi . So he declared a second war against him . The son of Kendujhar’s king( Bhanja) was the Senapati of the Army of king Purusottam Dev  . On the second war , king of Kanchi was defeated by the king  Purusottam Dev . After the war Purusottam Dev asked Bhanja , what he want from him . Bhanja request him to give Maa Tarini ( Maa Tarini was brought by the King from Kanchi ) . Purusottam Dev request to Maa , and Maa agreed to go with Bhanja with a condition that  , if he look back during the journey then she will stopped at that point and turned in to rock . During the journey at Ghatagaon Bhanja was unable to listen the sound of horse and looked  back . Due to this reason Maa Tarini turned in to a rock at that place . To worship Maa  Tarini , Bhanja built a temple at that place , which is later known as Ghatagaon  . This is the mythological story behind this shrine place .

Gundichaghagi waterfall,  Keonjhar 

Located at a distance of 15 KM from  Ghatagaon , Gundichaghagi water fall is one of the highest waterfall of the district  . People come to visit here after the completion of puja at Tarini temple  . You can enjoy the Green beauty of the place . This is also a best location for picnic    . Hundreds of people come here with friends and family for picnic purpose . Gundichaghagi waterfall is one of the best place for photography  . So I will suggest you if you are planning a trip to Ghatagaon , you must visit the water fall  .

Sana Ghagara water fall, Keonjhar 

Sana Ghagara water fall is one of the major tourist destination of the district  . The water fall is located at a distance of 5 KM from Kendujhar town  . This is one of the best picnic spot of the state . Thousands of people come here to enjoy their holidays during winter  . Except the water fall a well maintained park , rose garden  and boat riding facilities are also available in Sanaghagara .

Bada Ghagara, Keonjhar

Bada ghagara is located at a distance of 4 KM from Sana ghagara . The height of the water fall is about 100 feet . This is also a picnic spot . People are come here to hang out with friends on weekends  . Gonasika , Keonjhar 

Gonasika means nose of the cow . It is believed that the river Baitarani originated here from the two nostrils of the cow . This is also known as Guptaganga  because you can not see the river for certain distance , you can see the river at Brahma Kunda . The famous Brahmeswar Mahadev temple was built here by Laxmi Narayan Bhanja during 16th century  . 
Gonasika is located at a distance of 28 kilometers from Kendujhar town  . Thousands of people come here to enjoy the natural beauty of the spot and also for picnic purpose . Staying facilities are not available at the spot , so you have to return in the evening  .

Khandadhar waterfall, Keonjhar

Khandadhar waterfall is located at a distance of 53 kilometers from Keonjhar town  . The height of the water fall is about 500 feet . Bhima Kunda is one of the oldest and famous visiting place of the state  . There are two kunda  namly Bada Kunda and Sana Kunda ( Big and Small ) are available  . Bhimakund is built by  Bhima , one of the brothers of Pandav in Mahavarat on the ancient river Baitarani  . It is believed that during the Mahabharata period Bhima used to took bath in these Kunda . This is one of the best location for film shooting . Many Ollywood stars use  to come here for shooting  .
